Surf Baja at Mingei International Museum in San Diego

HISTORY, CULTURE, CONSERVATION AND EDUCATION

In conjunction with the Museum’s SURF CRAFT exhibition, join us for an evening celebrating the history and culture of surfing in the Baja region of Mexico.    Among others, presenters will include pioneer Mexican surfer, oceanographer and author of Tribe of the Waves – Memories of Mexican Surfing, Ignacio “Nacho” Felix Cota, who will discuss Mexico’s rich surfing history and individuals from both sides of the border who have contributed to its story.  In addition, Zach Plopper, Coastal and Marine Director, of WILDCOAST, Alfredo Rameriz, Founder and current President, UAPO ( United Athletes of the Pacific Ocean) and Nik Strong-Cvetich, Executive Director, Save The Waves Coalition, will present on important bi-national conservation and advocacy work that is being conducted in the region. A reception and book signing will follow with wine from the Baja region.
