Score Baja 1000

The Score Baja 1000 will take place Nov. 12-17, 2024. The off-road race will have a single loop course this year, beginning and ending in Ensenada. This is a busy time for travel in the affected regions so make sure you have hotel reservations and plan accordingly. More information about the race can be found on the Score International website.

The Passing of Hugo Torres

Rosarito legend Hugo Torres passed away on October 31, 2024. Torres was the owner of the Rosarito Beach Hotel and was instrumental in making Rosarito its own municipality. He served as the mayor of Rosarito from 2007-2010. Torres was an icon in Northern Baja and his legacy will live on through his family and friends and all who visit Rosarito.

Time Change Reminder

A reminder that while the state of Baja California had clocks “fall back” this past weekend with the end of daylight savings time, the state of Baja California Sur no longer changes time. Therefore, the state of Baja Sur will be one hour ahead of the state of Baja California until Baja California goes back onto Daylight Savings time in March 2025.

New State Department STEP Program

The U.S. State Department has launched a new version of the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). In order to begin or continue receiving alerts, you must visit step.state.gov. Here you can enroll in the updated STEP to set your preferences and continue receiving alerts and messages from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

FMM Reminder

There have been checkpoints along the peninsula for FMM tourist permits. Please remember to get your FMM at the border when crossing into Mexico.
