A new seafood restaurant opened in Ensenada called El Encallado, serving delicious seafood dishes with beautiful oceanfront views. The restaurant is owned by DBTC staffer Maythé’s two sisters, Michelle & Veronica, along with their husbands, Alfonso & Richard. Maythé’s nephew Allan helps at the tables.
The restaurant is called El Encallado (which loosely translates to “the stranded”) for the beached boat “Vicmar” that ran aground in 2016 and is now stranded on beach along Salsipuedes Bay just north of Ensenada.
The menu consists of dishes like towering piles of fresh seafood, cocteles (seafood cocktails), and the decadently delicious almejas gratinadas (clams au gratin). The restaurant is made from three shipping containers and has a small dirt parking lot next to the restaurant in addition to street parking in front of the restaurant.
El Encallado is located right across the street from Playa Hermosa. As the name suggests (Playa Hermosa translates to “beautiful beach”), the beach is truly gorgeous with wide white sand beaches speckled with palapas and a nice malecón. Boasting gorgeous Pacific views, the restaurant also gets a nice cool ocean breeze. With outdoor seating, the restaurant is pet friendly, so bring the entire family to enjoy a delicious meal! Tell them Maythé sent you.
