Rosarito Fish & Seafood Festival

On Sunday August 7th, Rosarito will host the 32nd Festival del Pescado y Marisco. The Rosarito Committee of Tourism and Conventions (COTUCO Rosarito) will host the event at the Rosarito Beach Hotel. 30 local restaurants will team up with 30 fishing producers to create a dish that will be given for free to attendants. Local beer and wine will be available. You can purchase tickets at the door or online.

The Passing of Diana Kennedy

The food world lost a legend last week with the passing of Diana Kennedy. Born in England, Kennedy moved to Mexico in 1957 and became fascinated with Mexican cuisine and the idea of preserving native ingredients and traditional recipes. She traveled to every state in Mexico researching local cuisine and wrote nine books on Mexican cooking. She was considered one of the foremost authorities on Mexican cuisine. In 2019, a documentary called “Diana Kennedy: Nothing Fancy” was released about her life and work. Kennedy died at her home near Zitácuaro, Michoacán on 24 July 2022, at the age of 99.

Fiestas de la Vendimia

Valle de Guadalupe’s 32nd Fiestas de la Vendimia are underway! The three-week festival is full of dinners and tastings at individual wineries as well as large group events such as the Muestra del Vino this Friday, August 5th, and Concurso de Paellas on Sunday, August 21st. Contact your favorite winery to see if they have an event for the festival or get tickets for one of the main large events. ¡Salud!
